Strengths and Weakneses of The North and South essays There were many strengths of both the union and confederate states. But the most abundant strengths belonged to the Union. Such was the very large population. This enabled the Yanks to have more people to go to war, more people to work the industry, more people to supply goods by farming them, and most important of all, they had plenty more reserves to send to the war effort. Another strength of the Union was the Navy. The navy could set up a blockade of ships to intercept the goods traded between the South and Europe. This would put great strain on the Confederates; they would have to ration all of the supplies, and would die from starvation/ living conditions. And since 65% of the farmland in America was found in the North, the South had less means to find food. The Yanks had 90% of the factories in America; they manufactured iron, coal, copper, and sulfur. The North also had one of the best political leaders in the country, Abraham Lincoln. As for the South, there were not as many advantages. Although there were a few strengths, there eventually werent enough to repel the Union army. The Rebels were skilled in basic survival skills such as horse riding, hunting, and primitive weapons use. The south also had the better generals/military leaders, because most of the generals that were trained so well were natives to the south. The Rebels were fighting on their home ground, and had to protect their homes and way of life. They would fight for their family. And, because of the North blockading the cargo ships coming and going from Europe the supply lines were enormously short. Most people, to be frank, hate their jobs. According to a 2012 survey I started freelance writing in 2002, back in the â€Å"good old days,† before the housing bubble bust, the collapse of Goldman Sachs, and the mainstreaming of food stamps. I sit at home in jeans instead of pajamas, but in the last ten years, I’ve managed to earn six figures for at least three of those years. My articles have appeared in everything from Women’s eNews to The Writer, and I occasionally write for businesses and nonprofits (yes, more money!) This article will show you three ways you can start earning six figures today. Tip #1: Set a goal of 30 queries in 30 days This first tip isn’t actually my idea. I gleaned it from my writing colleague, Indian freelance journalist Mridu Khullar Relph. Recently, Relph made a challenge to her fellow freelancers: jot down a list of your â€Å"dream† markets, such as National Geographic and The New Yorker. Go online, find the contact info of the appropriate editors, and write a query for each of the 30 markets you want to be published in. Send out a query every day in the month of May. I would add that, if you want to approach six figures quicker, make sure that each market pays $1 per word and up. If fifteen magazines and newspapers accept your queries, and you write fifteen 500-word articles at $1 per word, you’ll make $7500 in the month of May. How nice is that? Tip #2: Learn how to over-research When I first started to write articles, I interviewed sources, wrote about their experiences or expertise, and got my pieces published without a thought about re-slanting. Now I realize that over-researching, or gathering more information than you need for one article, is at the heart of a successful freelance career. It certainly makes future queries look more professional. When you add quotes or anecdotes from prior research into your pitches, editors know that you’re familiar with your topic, and won’t go AWOL when the article’s at deadline. Over-researching also makes writing articles easier. You have information from other pieces, and you spend less time in the library and interviewing, and more time writing. You get paid for words not for surfing the Web trying to find stats.      Tip #3: Write the article that the editor MUST have Think six months ahead. What’s the holiday that your potential market covers? Pitch an idea about that holiday an unusual idea. Just as specialist physicians, to paraphrase the comic Milton Berle, have small practices and big houses, focusing on a seasonal topic can unlock monetary doors. For example, if you want to pitch Christmas articles to a parenting magazine, first brainstorm ideas refusing to censor yourself. Sometimes, even the most bizarre ideas become published articles. It’s not about what you think is the right idea, it’s about what the editor must have in her particular edition. If you consistently give the editor what she must have, you’re on your way to a hefty income. How do we say something is worthy and not only worthy of anything but worthy of dying? Are we that special for him to say that? Yes, for him, it is yes. Going back decades ago, we were under the martial law led by Ferdinand Marcos, the archenemy of Ninoy. Everybody before looked upon Ninoy for he was the only political actor that readily questioned Marcos and therefore took the hearts of the people. And with his death, the people’s cry for democracy was only empowered to the point that everybody was swayed by his ill fate. Scores of students, teachers, and workers alike make use of his statement either to fight their rights, use it academically, and/or to give inspiration to the public. That’s how it made impact on our way of living. We tend to use famous words from famous people because we think it will make our convictions heavier. Football the Good Essay

My favorite sport is foot ball. Foot ball is considered a contact sport. It allows you to meet other boys my age. But most of all it helps me to build physically and mentally. There is nothing like getting in to the uniform and out on the field. I like to look at the crowd and hope they are going to cheer for my team. Before we get on the field, we have to do a few exercises which keeps us limber and in shape. We do push up and run, there are other exercises we have to do in our practice sessions. Which is at least 4 times week? I believe in football you get more exercises than any other sport. I like the fact that we can play under the lights at night. This seems to be the best time to draw a crowd to cheer you on and parents aren’t so apt to be working so they can come and enjoy the game. Nothing makes me prouder than to have my dad tell me what a good job i did. My dad loves football as much as I do and it seems to bring us together more. We watch a lot of football on television. Yes, you can get hurt in football, which is why some kids don’t want to play. But, some hospital records show that you get hurt just as much or even more playing soccer. You can get hurt playing baseball and some of the other sports also. To be honest, I would not suggest playing a sport of any kind if you are afraid of getting hurt. Not only do you get the satisfaction of playing the sport, you can also get the attention of the cheerleaders. Who wouldn’t want that? I have played football since I was A young boy and I hope to play in college. Who knows I may get scouted for the major leagues. Yes football is my favorite sport whether I am playing or watching it on television.

Reflection About My First Year of College

After ending this first year of college I experienced a lot of things and I will remember most of them for the rest of my life. I have experienced some good things and some others that have not been that good, but probably that is part of college and being away from home. Obviously, I would like to have changed some of those, but some others I would not have changed. I am going to start talking about all the things I would like to have change.During this first year I have lived good and bad moments, but I have learnt a lot about all I lived. I would like to say that one of the things that have affected me the most is living so far from home. I am not used to live away from home and it has been a problem during the all year, especially at the beginning. I missed my family a lot, because we were so close and I missed my friends as well. The other thing I would have change would definitely be my dorm. This year I probably lived in the worse dorm we have on Ohio.I know for fact that it i s one of the oldest ones and it has not been renovated for more than a few years. First of all, the all hall smelled pretty bad. I do not know exactly what it was but it smelled old and it seemed dirty. Another part of it was the rooms. The rooms were small and badly distributed. They had one bed almost next to the other, and then they had just one desk for two people. Another bad thing about my dorm would be the bathrooms. We did not have a private bathroom, and they were pretty badly built.We only had four showers for the whole floor. It means twenty or twenty five people for four showers. The last thing I want to mention that I do not like about my dorm is about the laundry. When I first got in my dorm and I put my first laundry, I took my clothes out of the dryer and they were one or two sizes smaller than usual. After that I thought they would get smaller every time but they did not. Finally, the only thing I like about the rooms is that they have a sink. It is always nice if y ou can wash your hands and brush your teeth in your own room.I came to the United States to play soccer and this year has been a hard year for me. I have not played like I would like to have done it. Probably because of all the things I said above that have not gone very well. This is the reason why this year has not been perfect. After all, I have learnt about it and I am ready to come back next year and try my best again. Definitely I would have changed my first year of tennis and I would like to have been more successful. Moving on I am going to talk about the experiences I would not have changed.The most important one is my friends. I made a lot of friends here through the year and I would not change them for anything. I really like people from the United Stated, I think they are so friendly and they try to help you anytime. I will always remember when I first got here at ohio I was kind a lost on campus and everybody could tell that and most of them tried to help me. Another im portant thing that has affected me is the language. But I want to say that I would not have changed that.I am from Spain and as everybody knows the main language is Spanish, not English. It is true that a lot of people there speak English but when I came I did not know this language really well and I had to work so hard to be able to speak and write it like now. I still think I have a lot to improve but I speak it much better that last semester. I have to say it has been an important issue because I was pretty scared to come in the United States because I knew I had to understand people, talk to them, and write for school.Later on I realized that the only way to improve quickly in another language is by moving to the country and interacting with the people. Finally, I would not have changed my roommate. We are both from Spain and I knew him before we came here in the United States. I have known him since we were twelve because both of us play tennis. That is why we came to ohio, to be able to play tennis and study at the same time and together. I think I was lucky because we had a room together because it must be really hard to live and share a room with somebody that you do not know.I think every country has its own culture and if you have a roommate from another country it can be a little bit hard. Like I said before, I got lucky to share a room with him and even though I knew him from Spain you really only get to know someone when you live with them. It has been hard but we had so much fun and we really enjoyed the experience. In conclusion, I had a lot of fun this year at Ohio, and there are some things I would have changed but I think I learnt from them and I will learn more about other experiences that will happen next year.

Sometimes they plots are just made up inside someone’s head, and other times they reflect what is going on in that society at a given period in time. Two shows in the same genre can be very similar, but then again can also be very different. They could both contain the same social issues, but portray them in different ways. A group of five of us was given the task to watch two shows and analyze them in terms of two social issues of our own choice and analyze how the issue fit with the time at which it was aired. Our research team had five people and we had to divide up the tasks between each of us. Our first task was to figure out what television show and issue we wanted to use. We went down the list for television shows and chose the most obvious issues in each and then found another show that contained the same issue. We came to the conclusion to watch â€Å"The Nanny† and â€Å"The Cosby Show† and relate them to issues of family and social class. Next we assigned different tasks. I do not have a television therefore my group decided that I should not be one of the people watching the television shows. So I was assigned the job of finding the television data from www.tvtome.com, finding the historical data, and collating the observation notes. The rest of the group assigned television shows based on whether they would be free to watch them. Help interns learn how to work with your team.After the first project is done, there will be lots of lessons learned from everyone involved. Ask your intern to review the process with the entire team to improve the project process: What went well? What went wrong? What should we improve? That’s it! Now I’m tossing this back to Halle, social media intern extraordinaire, to share how to incorporate an  intern into your team. And Now, Back To Halle: How To  Incorporate An Intern Into Your Team Nathan just gave you a great rundown of the hiring process. Now, Ill tell you what your intern needs to succeed, based on what weve learned at . In order to have a successful intern, you need make them feel like they are part of the team because well- they are. How do you do  this? Meetings:  Hold daily meetings to sync with your team and intern. Projects:  Give your intern more  opportunities  to learn,  by including them in team projects. Team activities: Allow your intern to be a part of team activities and exercises. Ready to become an expert? Let’s jump in! 1. Holding Daily Sync Meetings Here at , we hold a Scrum meeting every morning before starting our work day. Scrum is a daily meeting everyone attends. These are informal touch points, and they are effective with small teams who collaborate on projects together. What better way to make your intern feel at home than to have them be a part of your scrum meetings. The intern gets a first-hand look at what the team is working on and also how they can contribute. By including an intern in scrum meetings, they are able to understand the status of a project and can ask questions or express concerns. How can you incorporate your intern into meetings? Set a specific time for scrum meetings every day. This way your intern can develop a daily work routine. Discuss what projects you are currently working on with the team and what tasks the intern needs to have completed with set deadlines. Ask what each member of the team is working on, including your intern. This way they can bring up any roadblocks or questions they may have regarding the project. 2. Make Your Intern A Part Of Your Team Projects Remember why your intern is really there- to learn. The best way to learn is by doing. If your team has any current project in the works, make it your goal that the young individual is a part of the strategy or at least has some sort of task involved. Providing valuable projects he or she can take on, even if it’s just a small piece of a larger project, can be a great way to learn. Be sure to offer your intern opportunities that enrich your company and their career growth. Some marketing tasks your intern could tackle include: Social Media: Young professionals are creative geniuses at social media. You’d be surprised at what knowledge they hold regarding social media. Research: Interns are either in school or fresh out of school, so they are magical wizards at researching topics quickly and efficiently. Writing: You may already have a content writer, but consider giving your intern a piece of content they can write and perfect (such as this blog post I am writing). Is everyone on your team going out to eat? Include your intern! Team bonding is a phenomenal way to make your intern feel comfortable and gives them a chance to get to know everyone around the office. Every Wednesday at , we have Grillmaster Wednesday where a member of our team is in charge of grilling lunch for everyone. And 9 out of 10 times it’s one of our interns that steps up to the plate- literally. A Little Internship Program Advice For anyone who has never hired an intern before, it’s a wonderful experience. Plus, who couldn’t use an extra set of hands? Mistakes will be made on both sides, but that’s the beauty of it. It’s a learning experience for you and your intern. Use this experience to further develop your management skills. So here is a little advice that will go a long way 1. Don’t Be Afraid To Give More It’s better to have more than to not have enough when it comes to an internship program. You want your intern to gain a great deal of knowledge from all the experience they’ve learned. If they are doing one simple task over and over they will become very bored. Don’t be afraid to challenge your intern and have them do something out of their comfort zone.Don’t be afraid to challenge your intern and have them do something out of their comfort zone- like writing a blog post or a landing page- they might thank you for it. You should set aside some time each day to check in with your intern. Have a more formal touch point about once a week to keep them informed about upcoming projects and to ensure they have a clear direction of their current project. 2. Create A Friendly Environment As a mentor, you need to create an environment that makes an intern feel comfortable. Don’t just stick them in a room by themselves and hope they are learning. Unhappy interns will not want to be part of a team that doesn’t appreciate them. You and your intern will be spending a lot of time together, so it’s important that they are comfortable enough to ask questions or chime in when they have suggestions. It’s also important to build a relationship with an intern so that YOU’RE comfortable enough to ask questions. Ask them where they would derive the most value for their time spent with you, and seek to arrange a project in the areas that most interest and drive them. If your intern is doing a great job, let them know! Providing words of encouragement will make the individual more productive and continue to thrive. 3. Look At Mistakes As Lessons Learned I can guarantee that there will be mistakes made- from both ends. Use these mistakes as a learning opportunity for the future. If your intern is drowning in confusion, it’s up to you to jump in and save them. The intern you picked likely passed up on a summer full of road trips or a fall full of pumpkin spiced anything to work for your company. Always remember that they want to be here and shouldn’t be taken for granted. Aim to be a mentor your intern can learn from and look up to. Take the time to answer questions, and teach new concepts so that you can avoid future hiccups. You’ll even learn a thing or two yourself during the entire process, whether it be better ways to manage or smarter ways to complete certain tasks.
